The Smell Of Rotting Flesh

    ithin in any Thief game there are missions remembered for being unbelievable hard, frustrating, or down right impossible. This is one of those missions. Don't bother checking your map, its so vague as to be useless. Start by approaching the entrance but turn left and climb the hill to the lit crypt. Inside, down and to the right, grab the jeweled cup. (Total: 15) Enter the main crypt and climb down the rope. Find the next rope and climb down it. Head to the southeast corner and up the ramp. Turn left then left again and up the next ramp. Find and read the book by the dead thief. Back down the ramp heading east then turn left. Down the ramp into the crypt. Enter it and wind your way around to the northwest corner. Turn left and follow the steps up to the end of the ramp. Crouch near the crack in the wall and retrieve eight water arrows from the blue chest. Return down the steps to the northwest corner, turn left and follow the steps north. As you follow the passage the opening on your left leads to a holy water fountain. In the next room grab the golden goblet on your left but watch the floor, its rigged. (Total: 115) Take the steps heading north and climb down the rope on your left. Sneak south around the zombie and open the chest on your left for a diamond. (Total: 215) Go north and dive into the water. Swim north into the next room. To the south are two chests. Each has an arrow trap in the base, open from afar and claim the speed potion and six fire arrows. Climb down the ladder on the south end but beware the trigger at its base. Enter the burrick tunnel. Follow it around until you hear the tapping of feet.

Burrick Haven

    Burricks are dumb, but lethal when provoked. Knock this one down by sword or blackjack, or run past it to the left. At the next tunnel head southwest and fall into the water. Swim southwest and walk up the steps. Check the floor. The dark shaded areas are trap triggers. Get to the alter and grab the fire arrows, look down and to the right of it for a scroll and coin purse. (Total: 315) Leave. Swim to the northeast end. Follow the tunnel until it overlooks the main burrick cavern. Shoot a rope arrow in the green part overhead and climb down. Run northeast and enter the tunnel. It will lead to a three way intersection. Check the left passage for a silver nugget by the skeleton. (Total: 365) The right passage leads to a burrick guarded room. Climb the rope to reach a dead thief, a book, and six water arrows. Return to the large burrick chamber. Head west or northwest to other side. Climb up into the tunnel. Beneath it is a red rock with an arrow pointing down. See picture below.

    At the chasm hug the left wall to the other end and take the passage up to the main crypts. You could also fall way down into the water to find a book by a dead thief but getting out is difficult. As you enter the crypts hug the right wall to an opening northwest. Inside are several corpses in front of a jeweled vase. Grab it and to the right grab the golden bone. Leave heading northwest until you reach an opening with a door to the west. Open the door and wait a few seconds for the rubble to fall before entering the room. Move the rubble off to one side so you have a clear run to the other side. In the alcove on the west wall you will find a gold vase (Total 565) in the lower right corner. Exit and turn right, continuing to the southwest to reach an open area with a white square railing in the middle. Look south as you enter for another golden bone. Grab the silver nugget (Total 615) from the niche on the south wall below the engraving of the man. Cross the room with the white railing and leave heading southwest. Take the first opening on your right into a room with a slim stone beam crossing water below. Hug the walls around to the ladder on the other side. Climb it to the top and nab the nice vase. (Total 665) Drop down into the water and claim another golden bone floating on the surface. Swim east and up through the crack. Up the steps and you will be in the white railed room again.

The Mystic's Heart

    Head northwest then north through a large open room, below which is water. North into the next room then climb the ramp. Atop the ramp climb the ladder all the way up, spin around and jump across to the landing. Head across to the open side and get past the burrick. (If you don't have the Mystic's Heart as an objective, a door will block your path.) The next room is a purple menace nightmare. Just time your drops onto lower stone braces and save your game frequently until you reach the bottom. Next, the dreaded statue room, requires persistence in seeing the "invisible path" you must follow. Start by heading to the right to reach the the four pillars in the back. Then cross east weaving left past one pillar then right past the next until you reach the other end. Enter the last room and either fight or sneak past the swordsman. Grab the Mystic's Heart (Total 1665) from the chest then enter the teleporter behind it. Go all the back to the tall ladder climbed earlier. Climb back down. Head north and time your way into the room with the fireball trap. Climb down into the crypt below and pick up the gold cup (Total 1690) from the top coffin on the south wall. Return to the tall ladder. Head south from the base of the ladder. Make a right down the passage. Head past the wooden ramp up into the next area which has two rooms connecting off it. Enter the Hammerite crypt, as marked by the Hammer near its entrance. Don't step into the lit image of the hammer on the floor, its rigged.

The Mystic's Soul

    Check each crypt for a goblet behind a skull (Total 1735) then climb down either ladder on the west end. Throw the golden bones into the open coffin along with the additional two located nearby. Collect the many items. Leave the Hammerite crypt, turn right, and head down the passage to the next room on the right. (If you don't have the Mystic's Soul as an objective, a door will block your path.) Put out the human torch using water arrows then light each torch in the room. When the zombies are unleashed dive into the opened center area and swim into the next room. Approach the steps and slide all the way to the left or right. Get atop the cream colored stone railing and use it to reach the top. Take the Mystic's Soul (Total 2235) but leave immediately before the next trap is triggered. Use the ladder on the north end to return to the crypts.

The Horn of Quintus

    Work your way north back to the wooden ramp passed earlier. Climb it east, making a small jump at the end. Trun right down a flight of stairs and take a left before the inset carving of the man. Head north to the pile of bones and shoot a rope arrow into the landing straight ahead. Jump to the rope to enter the Marad crypt. Continue north and grab the ornate cup (Total 2250) from the second alcove on the left. Return to area where you landed after the small jump. Head up the steps, then a ramp into another annoying purple burst room. Turn left, then make a right followed by another to enter the burrick tunnel. Take it to the burrick cavern. Keep heading north until you find the passage leading to the Horn of Quintus. Climb the ladders to the top, then spin around and use the ladder in the middle to reach the horn. Climb back down and escape back to the crypts. Go back down the ramp past the annoying purple bursts. Climb down all the steps and cross back under the purple burst room. Head east at the intersection up the ramp in the next room. The opening to the south leads to a surface exit, ending the mission. You'll have to crouch near the end but don't worry, its completely safe. The ramp leading north leads to some jeweled eyes (Total 2450) provided the statue doesn't burn you. Stay to one side when grabbing the jeweled eyes then use a rope arrow to climb back out. You may need to use a second rope arrow if the first rope arrow refuses to work.
